2008 Beijing Olympics Results: U.S. Men’s Basketball Blasts Spain, Stays Perfect in Olympics


LeBron James scored 18 points while Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony finished with 16 points as the United States blasted Spain 119-82 on Saturday night to improve to 4-0 at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

With the win the United States clinched the number one seed in Group B and will now face the number four seed in Group A during the medal contention.

Saturday’s game was never really in doubt as the U.S. buried jumpers while still getting points in the paint. The Americans shot 48 percent from beyond the three-point while defensively they held Spain to just 28-70 from the field.

Chris Paul added 14 points for the United States and Kobe Bryant chipped in 11 in the win.

Felipe Reyes led Spain with 17 points while Paul Gasol finished with 11 in the loss.
