2008 Beijing Olympics Results: Tirunesh Dibaba Takes Gold for Ethiopia in Women’s 10,000m

Tirunesh Dibaba set an Olympic record in the women’s 10,000m at the 2008 Beijing Olympics on Friday, crossing the finish line in 29:54.66 to claim the gold medal for Ethiopia.

Dibaba edged Turkey’s Elvan Abeylegesse who finished in a time of 29:56.34 for the silver medal. Both Dibaba and Abeylegesse beat the former Olympic best of 30:17.49

American Shalane Flanagan won the bronze with a time of 30:22.22.
