2008 Beijing Olympics Results: Kirsty Coventry Wins Gold in Women’s 200m Backstroke
Zimbabwe’s Kirsty Coventry won the gold medal in women’s 200m backstroke on Friday at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Coventry set a new Olympic and world record, touching the wall in 2:05.24.Coventry finished a full second ahead of American Margaret Hoelzer who claimed silver with a time of 2:06.23.
Japan’s Reiko Nakamura took bronze after finishing in a time of 2:07.13
