Australia's Olympic swimming medal winners
AUSTRALIA is sending a 43-strong swimming team to the Olympic Games in Beijing, with many pundits believing it is the strongest squad to represent the nation at an overseas meet.
In addition to the swimmers, Australia will be represented by nine women in the synchronised swimming competition.
Australian swimming legend Kieren Perkins has played down the swimmers' ambitions in China, saying the team will fall short of the stunning success achieved in Athens, but still the nation expects the likes of Libby Trickett, Grant Hackett and Leisel Jones to lead a gold rush.
Kenrick Monk, Stephanie Rice, Jessicah Schipper, Emily Seebohm and Eamon Sullivan are also considered to be strong contenders for individual gold medals.
Any number of other team members are considered to be in contention for a minor individual medal, and Australia's squads, as always, seem likely to press strongly for relay honours.
Whatever success the swimmers and synchronised swimmer achieve, they're doing their best for themselves, their teammates and for you, their cheer squad. Let them know exactly how you feel by writing on the Hero Wall for the 2008 Australian Olympic Swimming team.
