Egypt official stabbed to death by assistant


An official from Egypt's ruling National Democratic Party who was found dead in party offices was killed by his assistant, police said on Saturday.

Ikram Ahmed Abdel Latif, 25, stabbed the NDP's Mohammed Zaki Mohammed Mussa to death after Mussa failed to pay him his monthly salary of 350 Egyptian pounds 62 dollars four times in a row, police said.

Abdel Latif confessed after his fingerprints were found on the knife.

Mussa, who was the NDP's administrative director for the affluent Cairo suburb of 6th October City, was found dead Wednesday evening with 10 stab wounds to his body.

The NDP is headed by veteran President Hosni Mubarak who has been in power since 1981.
