Angel Cabrera of Argentina won the 73rd Masters at Augusta National on Sunday in a dramatic sudden-death, three-man playoff with Americans Kenny Perry and Chad Campbell.
Perry and Cabrera parred the first playoff hole at the 18th with Campbell dropping out after a bogey.
Moving over to the 10th, Cabrera secured his first green jacket when he parred the hole and Perry could only bogey.
Cabrera earlier had closed with a 71, the same as playing partner Perry with Campbell coming in with a 69. All three finished on 12-under 276.
It was Cabrera's second major win after the 2007 US Open and the first for a South American at the Masters.
In fourth place, two strokes back on the leading trio, was Japan's Shingo Katayama who came in with a 68.
Phil Mickelson finished fifth a further stroke back after a closing 67, one shot ahead of playing partner Tiger Woods who came in with a 68 and tied for sixth place with fellow Americans John Merrick, Steve Flesch and Steve Stricker.
Perry, who had never won a major in a career dating back to 1987, came to the last with a one hole lead over Campbell ahead of him and playing partner Cabrera but took a bogey after sending his tee-shot into a bunker.
Both Cabrera and Campbell parred the hole forcing the first three-man playoff since 1987.
