Grant Hackett is in the 400m freestyle final.

GRANT Hackett and Stephanie Rice are Australia's big medal hopes in the Olympic pool today in Beijing.

Hackett was the fifth fastest qualifier into today's final, winning his heat in 3min 44.03sec. His wife has said he is relaxed ahead of the 400m final.

Stephanie Rice will be in a gold medal showdown with America's Katie Hoff.

But first it's American giant Michael Phelps, who is aiming for eight Olympic Gold in 2008, in the 400IM.
