Sinclair scores as Canada ties New Zealand
Canada earned with a 1-1 draw against New Zealand in Singapore on Saturday in one of its final tune-up matches before the women's Olympic soccer tournament in China.
Canadian captain Christine Sinclair scored the 93rd goal of her national team career. Sinclair, from Burnaby, B.C., opened the scoring in the 36th minute when she scored on a rebound inside the Kiwis' box. New Zealand tied things up four minutes later.
Canada will take on Singapore on Sunday.
Canada faces Argentina (Aug. 6), China (Aug. 9) and Sweden (Aug. 12) in Group A at the Beijing Olympics. The top two teams in each of the three round-robin groups, plus the two-best third-place teams, advance to the quarter-finals.
